Asbestos Awareness Training

January 2008 saw the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) pass responsibility for managing the list of training providers for licensed asbestos work to the United Kingdom Training Association UKATA  and the Independent Asbestos Training Providers IATP

UKATA and IATP will set the standards, audit and manage the list of asbestos training providers in the future. If training has NOT been provided by an accredited company, enforcing officers may ask asbestos operators to demonstrate how chapter 4 of the Licensed Contractors guide has been complied with.

Previously, HSE provided a list of known asbestos training providers as a service to individuals looking for asbestos training. HSE did not approve any training provider's status and merely directed enquirers to the training providers list.

Award Health & Safety Ltd provides specialised training and is a registered member of UKATA and IATP. Asbestos Awareness Training can be delivered at the client's premises or at a mutually convenient location.

Asbestos Awareness Training

Duration 1/2 day

Suitable Delegates: those employees whose organisations wish to provide mandatory education and awareness training of asbestos issues to them as required under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006.

They may have asbestos materials in their workplace or asbestos related activities carried out such as asbestos surveys, remedial clean up or asbestos removal being undertaken on site. Delegates will gain an understanding of how this affects them, what is being done and why.

Managing Asbestos in Premises

Duration 1 day

Suitable Delegates: supervisors or those managing maintenance operatives, other Employees or sub-contractors who may disturb asbestos in their work.

It will also greatly benefit those responsible for moving their organisation towards compliance with the new duty to manage. To ensure that delegates have a thorough understanding of their legal responsibilities and duties under the new regulations.
