Asbestos Management
An Asbestos Policy provides a framework for asbestos management and acknowledges a company's responsibilities regarding asbestos. An effective policy should include the following:
- Introduction
- Policy Statement
- Compliance Strategy
- Asbestos Records
- Personnel Responsible for Asbestos Management
As set out in the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, all duty holders with known or presumed asbestos within their properties must have in place an effective Asbestos Management Plan. The purpose of this asbestos management plan is to manage any known or presumed asbestos so that its potential danger is tightly controlled and risks kept to an absolute minimum.
Typically a plan should include:
- Asbestos Information
- Asbestos Assessments
- Action Plan
- Monitoring and Re-inspections
- Asbestos Training Arrangements
- Roles and Responsibilities
- Dissemination of Information
- Duties of the Asbestos Coordinator
- Emergency Procedures
Award Health & Safety Ltd is committed to producing client-specific policies and asbestos management plans with detailed procedures that ensure asbestos is managed in accordance with the regulations. By building on the comprehensive documentation provided with our asbestos survey reports, we provide a simple and effective route to full asbestos control and asbestos management (subject to a Management Plan being agreed).
Hazard Management
Award Health & Safety Ltd offers a range of FIRE and HEALTH & SAFETY SERVICES to Retail organisations, Commercial and Property businesses, as well as Industrial and Manufacturing companies.
These services and reports produced include:
- Risk Assessment
- Loss Prevention
- Health & Safety Audit Overview Reports
- Fire Protection System Survey
- Fire Costs
Fire costs British industry in excess of £500 million per annum in property damage alone and the added costs of business disruption are incalculable. One third of all fires are caused by sparks from cutting and welding work. The possibility of such fires occurring can be reduced by the introduction of a 'permit to work' system within formal safety procedures.
Award Health & Safety Ltd can provide a hazard management system within occupied premises to reduce the likelihood of fires and other costly hazards.
We have experience of assessing the risks of all activities and of developing procedures to reduce the likelihood of damage and unsafe environments. This is typically achieved by the issue of a permit to work following a rigorous checking questionnaire that ensures a safe method of working.
The issue of a Hot Work Permit, for example, would necessarily address:
- The timing of work and restriction of access.
- Communications with other employees
- Sprinkler drain down and fire watch arrangements
- Type of work and equipment to be used
We can either provide a full management service or can produce a Hazard Management manual and then train your staff in its operation.
